Easier to reach
than it looks
We recommend coming by car: it gives you the most freedom to move around the lake. But Lierna has its own station, and the house is about 20 minutes' walk from it.
By car, the way we recommend
A car is the best way to enjoy this part of the lake. It gives you the most flexibility and lets you reach the most genuine places and the best restaurants, the ones that are not on the coach routes.
From Milan take the SS36 towards Lecco and then the fast road running along the eastern branch of the lake: the exit is Lierna. From Como you can either cross by ferry at Bellagio or drive round through Lecco.
There is a reserved parking space in the garage, free and included in the stay. It is not a small detail: in summer, parking in Lierna is the hardest sport there is.
By train, no trouble at all
You can get here perfectly well by train. Lierna station is served by the regional trains on the Milan–Lecco–Sondrio–Tirano line: a little over an hour from Milano Centrale.
The village centre is about 17 minutes on foot from the house, the station about 20. If you arrive with luggage or late in the evening, write to us and we will sort something out.
The train is also a good way to move around: Varenna is the next stop, Bellano the one after, Lecco the other way.
From the airports
Bergamo Orio al Serio: about an hour and ten by car.
Milan Malpensa: about an hour and twenty by car without traffic; by train changing at Milano Centrale.
Milan Linate: about an hour and a quarter by car.
From Malpensa and Orio al Serio there are also coaches to Milano Centrale, where the train for Lierna leaves.
By boat
In the central months of the year the Navigazione Lago di Como also stops at Lierna, with connections to Varenna and Bellano. Timetables change with the season.
The most useful ferry is still the Varenna–Bellagio–Menaggio one: a quarter of an hour across to the other side of the lake.

We welcome you ourselves. We agree the arrival time together, hand you the keys in person and show you around the house.
If you expect to arrive after the agreed time, let us know as soon as you can: we will work out together how to organise it.
